February 22 & 23, 2017 (Second day is reserved for interviews only!); 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Preparing for the Fair:

· Download the new fair app for tips, floor plans, event details, and list of employers attending.

· Polish your resume by stopping into Career Development to have your resume reviewed by a Peer Career Advisor or make an appointment with a career specialist. And, review resume information at https://gustavus.edu/career/resumes.php

· Review the Prepare for Minnesota’s Private Colleges Job and Internship Fair “Plan” on Handshake.

· Learn how to introduce yourself and prepare for Interviews. Find information at https://gustavus.edu/career/interviewingresources.php and view Prepare for Interviews “Plan” on Handshake.

Upload your resume to Handshake for approval. Once it is approved you can be confident in sending it to employers. If you need/want assistance with your resume, please come to Career Development.

· Research employers you want to meet while at the fair.

· Request interviews by posting your resume on the Job Fair site and writing to employers who indicated they are accepting pre-arranged interviews in advance of the Fair. Be sure that these requests include the following statement: “requesting a pre-arranged interview at Minnesota’s Private Colleges Job and Internship Fair.”

· Attend Real Life 101: Career Sessions Monday evenings in February and also the Fair Prep Party on February 15.

Getting to the Fair: You may also drive on your own. Driving and parking directions to the Fair.

At the Fair:

· Dress MOST professionally (suits, ties; suits/professional dresses –COMFORTABLE shoes!).

· Bring copies of your resume, a professional folder to keep your resume and materials you collect, and a pen to take notes.

· Give your introduction to employers; don’t make them initiate the conversation.

· Present your resume and request an interview to further discuss your qualifications and opportunities with the organization. Remember to say thank you and send a thank you note to employers you are interested in pursuing!

· Transportation will be available to the Convention Center on the FIRST day of the fair. Register for the bus by Joining the Handshake Event.
