Fair Update Feb. 1, 2016 Posted on February 2nd, 2016 by

Dear Fair Goers:
1. There are now 196 of you registered for fair!  That is great!
(BUT there are over 70 of you who do not have resumes approved on Handshake – I REALLY need you to get resumes loaded so I have time to help you make each resume as good as possible!)
2. BUT, only 84 of you have resumes posted on the Fair website (mnpcfair.org).  Really we are going to let Macalester catch us!  Plus – employers are looking at the resumes now to find candidates to interview at the Fair!
3. There are now 30 of you registered for the Fair Prep Party next Wednesday.  Note that the time on that is 6:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall – I realize that there were two times listed -I think we have the corrected.  It is at 6:00 p.m.
4. This is the week to get ready for Fair!  Do it so you are ready!  Focus on the basics:
Get There: Figure out how you are getting to the Fair at the Minneapolis Convention Center by 8:00 on Wednesday, Feb. 17.  If you need assistance with this please let me know.  There are maps and directions on the website and in the Fair Booklet.
Dressed Professionally: Figure out what you are going to wear – this is MOST PROFESSIONAL DRESS!  You have spent a lot of time and money on your education – don’t go cheap on your appearance.  You want to look like a new professional, NOT a college kid.  The fastest way to do this is your dress!
With What You Need: Figure out what you are bringing with you.  See the list on Handshake Fair Plan and in the Fair Booklet.
Prepared to Talk to Employers: This is the big one!  Plan on 6 hours this week to go through the employer list to figure out who you want to talk to, who you want to sent resumes to and ask for interviews at the Fair, and send those resumes.  Then add time to prepare your introduction – when you meet employers and to prepare for interviewing.  More on that tomorrow.
5. I hope to get you my schedule for next week tomorrow.  The thing is – I will NOT be able to meet with 196 of you individually when you get back to campus, so PLEASE attend the group events.
More soon!  Cynthia
