Fair Update Jan. 22, 2016 Posted on January 22nd, 2016 by

Fair Goers:

  • There are now 252 employers registered for fair!
  • There are now 147 Gusties registered for fair – that is great!
  • I have heard that some are getting interviews scheduled at fair!
  • I have attached the Fair Booklet again – as we have new people registered.
  • Also, got to Handshake – on left side bar clink on Plans – click on the MN Private College Job and Internship Fair Plan – see Pre-Select Interviews for a sample letter to use in emails to employers to ask to schedule interviews at the fair.
  • Fair Prep Party is Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 6:00 in Alumni Hall. Please go on Handshake and Join that event.  And, when you do that let us know if you want to schedule a Mock Interview.  (So Fair only 5 of you are registered for Prep Party!)
    • The Fair Prep Party is an opportunity, in 2 hours, to:
      • Learn the dos and don’ts of the fair
      • Practice introducing yourself (elevator speech) and your resume
      • Have a mock interview.

Alumni come to campus to help with this – sometimes they take resumes back to their employers and people have gotten interviews, internships and jobs from this.

Since we have alumni coming – we like to know how many of you are attending so we know how many alumni we need, please Join the event so we know.

  • Remember – there are only a few days from the start of spring semester until the fair. It is not possible for Career Development to provide one-on-one appointments for everyone.  Please attend the Prep Party and other group sessions.

  • And, if you have questions about fair – start sending to me. I will answer to the whole group –as others may have the same questions.

  • NEW RESOURCE: I have signed Gustavus up for a new on-line Career Course – it is free. It is videos on career and job search topics.  To access (The Career Platform – TCP), go to https://elearning.thecareerplatform.com/gustavus/Account and create an account using your Gustavus email username and password.  There is lots of info – but look at the eLearning to see the videos on career and job search topics.
