Fair Goers
  1. Boom Lab has scheduled campus interviews for March 6.  They want to meet candidates at the fair and schedule candidates for campus there.  So….be sure to send them pre-select letter saying you will stop by their table and would like an interview on campus on March 6.
  2. Same is true for Target Finance and Retail Services.  They will present on campus with info on their opportunities on Wed. Feb. 12 in the St. Peter Room at 5:00 p.m.  They are not doing campus interviews, but will look for candidates at the fair.  They are looking for Juniors for internship positions.
  3. There are 42 of you registered for fair.  42 of you still need resumes approved on GustieJobs.  I know that many of you are working on that!
  4. We have 47 resumes posted on the fair website.  PLEASE go and upload your resume there too!  Go to mnpcfair.org.  Go to Student Menu.  In left box click on Upload Resume.  We are ahead of St. Thomas by 10 – but this is a deal where – just get it done!  Any employers looking at those resumes I want them to see more Gusties than any place else.
  5. I am at an off campus meeting tomorrow and so you will not get a message from me.  I have a full day of meetings on Monday.  So, be patient if you send me emails or if you upload resumes – it will take me some time to catch up on that.
  6. You should now have the following done:
    1. Resume: uploaded to GustieJobs and Fair website
    2. Clothes: have business suit and shoes ready to go
    3. Plans: know where you will stay the night before the fair – the hotel reservations are due tomorrow if you are planning to do that
    4. Employers: have a list started of employers you want to connect with – that means you need to have been looking at the fair website – this WILL take MUCH more time than you think; in the past some students have divided the list and shared info on employers of interest.
    5. Interviewing: created an account on InterviewStream and looked at interview questions, maybe recorded a practice interview?  Use your Gustavus email and password to open an account on InterviewStream – click on the logo on the Career Development web page.
    6. Next week is a good week to start emailing your resume and pre-select letters to employers.  Send to ALL employers who are of interest to you.  If it says they are collecting resumes at the fair and giving info for future positions, say in your letter you are interested and will stop by their booth.  If they are interviewing, ask to schedule one.
    7. Also….if you are planning on attending the Fair Prep Party, Wed, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. in Alumni Hall – and you should! – email Jill at jvanosdo@gustavus.edu and tell her.  We want to know how many mock interviewers we need to schedule!  (In the past people have gotten job and internship interviews from contacts at this event!)
    8. Ok…so I always worry that I am forgetting to tell you things!  Do send me questions – I can answer them for all.  More next week.
Cynthia
