Fair Update – Feb. 18 Posted on February 18th, 2013 by

I got this message today, which tells me some of you have interviews scheduled at Fair!

Heads Up: The U.S. State Department will have a booth at the Fair. A representative from the State Department will follow up with a campus visit next Thursday, Feb. 21. Watch for more details as we schedule that visit.

I will have walk in hours for Fair questions today, Monday, Feb. 18 from 1:30 – 3:30 and Tuesday 3:00 – 4:00.

Plan to arrive at the Convention Center at 8:00 a.m. Follow the signs to the MN Private Colleges Job and Internship Fair. Find the Gustavus registration table. Note that there are 184 of you registered for the fair. It will take time for everyone to find their name tags. At the registration table we will give you a map of the employer booth area.

After getting your name tag go into the candidate lounge area. There is a complimentary coat check. Look at the booth area map to find the employers you want to talk with.

Career Development staff (Vince, Corrie, Jill, Amy) will be at the fair. I will be arriving at the fair by 8:30. Kathi Tunheim, Kathy Lund Dean, and Kristian Braekkan will be at the fair a bit before 9:00….I will send them into the candidate lounge area so that you can ask questions. Alum Luther Hagen will also be at the Gustavus registration table.

The doors to the fair open at 9:00 a.m. If you have a special need and would like to enter the floor early, let me know as soon as possible so that we can make those arrangements.

It is a great idea to go to the employers of greatest interest as early as possible. Interview times fill up quickly.

If the employer says they are not interviewing at fair, ask how you can be considered for their positions. The fair is an opportunity to learn what you need to do to be considered for positions.

Jeff Stocco from Center for Servant Leadership will be at the fair doing some videotaping of Gustavus candidates at the fair. Note that this is for Gustavus use. There will be others at the fair doing video for the fair (like on the fair website).

If you will be returning to the fair on Thursday, you must wear your name tag! If you are not returning or when you are done on Thursday, please return your name tag! It saves us money if we can recycle the name tag holders.

If you have questions let me know!

Cynthia
