Fair Update – Feb. 6 Posted on February 6th, 2013 by

Let me know if you are attending

  • Fair Prep Party
  • If you want a mock interview at Fair Prep Party
  • If you are attending the Target info session
  • If you are attending the Epic info session

Update your www.linkedin.com profile. Employers have said if you do not have a profile there they do not consider you a serious candidate.

Follow Gustavus Career Development on Facebook and Twitter and Pinterest – for on-going career info.

You will need copies of your resume for fair – 20 – 40 copies depending on how many employers are of interest to you. Resumes need to be on good bond paper (resume paper). Available at BookMark and other paper stores.

REMEMBER: I want you to individually have a great fair experience – BUT I am also concerned with branding Gustavus to employers! That means that you need to be prepared with:

  • A great error free resume: which is why I want to see resumes before fair!
  • Most professional dress (suits for all)
  • An articulate introduction
  • Great interview skills
  • Most professional behavior at ALL TIMES at the fair: no sitting on the floor, no gum chewing, no looking at phones when talking to employers, no hold hands, no foul language (anywhere!), etc.

You will need resumes for the Fair Prep Party. Business casual dress for the Prep Party is ok…but it is also a great time to practice wearing your suit!

My walk in hours for next week are: Monday 10 – 12; Tuesday 11-12 and 1:30 – 3:00; Thursday 10:30 – 12.

Reminder – you need to find your own transportation to and from fair. There are 180 of you registered for fair – so hopefully you can coordinate rides. I do encourage staying over in the twin cities on Tuesday – to reduce stress on Wed a.m.

You will need to talk to your faculty about being away from campus for fair. I am reminding faculty of the fair dates and will tell them who is registered to attend.

More soon! Cynthia
