Fair Update – Feb. 4 Posted on February 4th, 2013 by

1.      Fair Prep Party is Wednesday, Feb. 13 in Alumni Hall – starting at 6:00.  It includes Speed Networking – opportunity to practice your introduction and offer your resume and Mock Interview(s).
2.      If you want a Mock Interview – email back to me and tell me if you want one or two mock interviews.  You will only get a second interview if we have time available.  There will be a schedule at the Prep Party with where you will do your Mock Interview(s).
3.      If you do that we will know who is coming to the Prep Party.  In the past candidates have connected with employers about internship and jobs from this event.  Alums attending this year are from: Cargill, Target, Federated Insurance, SPS Commerce, Cigna, Securian, Northwestern Mutual Life.  If enough of you want Mock Interviews I will seek more alums we need them.
4.      Attached to this are my suggestions for employers to look at based on your career interests.
5.      I talked to 3 employers over the weekend – they all say the same thing.  They are looking for candidates who show INITATIVE!  That means’ send a letter and resume asking for a pre-select OR if they are not interviewing that you will stop by their booth at Fair.
6.      PLEASE read the fair booklet that got sent to you last week.
7.      PLEASE get your resume to me!  As soon as possible.  I want your resumes to be as powerful as possible!
8.      There are now 181 of you registered for fair – the most EVER!  We are ahead of St. Thomas with resumes posted at www.mnpcfair.org.  That is great as we want employers to see lots of Gustavus resumes.
9.      I am not taking individual appointments but next week I will have some walk in times for appointments.  I will put those times out again later this week.
10.  Things to do: print resume on resume paper (20 – 40 copies for fair), if you do not have one create an account at www.linkedin.com, prepare for interviews using InterviewStream on the Career Development webpage.
