Health Professions Fair – Sample Questions Posted on March 15th, 2011 by

Wednesday, March 16 @ 11:30-2:30pm is the Health Professions Fair. This is an opportunity to speak to admission representatives about their respective programs or employers about job opportunities. This weekend take a moment to look at the websites of the organizations attending (attached below) and jot down a few questions.

Here are a few sample questions:

Introduction: “Hi, my name is Jane Doe. I am a sophomore here at Gustavus majoring in History. I am planning to apply to Medical school and am interested in your program. “

Q: What does a competitive applicant look like?

Q: How is a candidate evaluated? Is there any type of rating system/points system for evaluating candidates…such as volunteer work, direct patient care, leadership roles, etc.

Q: Do you have any visit days or advising sessions for prospective students?

Q: I read on your website about some of the unique features that your program offers (give a specific example). Are there other features/opportunities that make your program distinct?

Q: How are the interviews structured? What is the best way to prepare for the interview?

Q: Is there a certain amount of hours of shadowing/experience required prior to applying?

Q: How do students from this school perform on the National Board Examination?

Q: Is there any type of mentor/adviser system?

Q: What is the current tuition and fees?

Conclusion: “Thank you for the information. I appreciate you taking the time to talk with me today and answer my questions.”
